Be Out

At Calvary, we believe that we are called to love others as ourselves and share our faith with them. This starts with serving at our church which makes our Sunday worship services and other ministries possible and allows us to provide care to those who need it. It then grows and extends out into the community, being a blessing in Coopersburg and beyond and sharing and inviting all to the great things that God is doing in our world.

Worship Team

Our worship team plays at our Sunday morning gatherings to help lead the congregation to praise God through song. Currently, they are looking for musicians like pianists, drummers and bass players especially.  Singers are not needed now but will be in the fall when some of our high schoolers head off to college. Different volunteers can serve at different capacities, but musicians are expected to help out on a Sunday at least once a month. Beforehand, the team practices  on the previous Thursday night at 7:30PM for about 15 - 30 minutes. Then on Sunday, musicians arrive around 7:45/8:00 AM (one hour before the service) and play for both services.

AV Team

Our AV (Audio and Visual) team helps make our Sunday gatherings possible through manning our live stream and all sound equipment. They'd love more helpers who have an interest in technology like - computers, engineering, video games, software, etc. Experience with AV and being musically inclined is a plus but is not required - as long as you are comfortable with technology in general, the AV team is happy to train you on the equipment used and gaining a musical ear. Different volunteers can serve at different capacities, but are expected to help out on a Sunday at least once a month. Beforehand, the sound guys (but not those who work livestream) practice with the band on the previous Thursday night at 7:30PM for about 15 - 30 minutes. Then typically on Sunday AV volunteers help out in one of the two services.

Welcome Team

Our welcome team helps welcome both regular attendees and guests to our church . They serve in many ways at our Sunday gatherings, from greeting people at the door, serving coffee, helping guide visitors, to answering questions about our church and events. These individuals are typically more extroverted, they love Jesus and sharing about him, and display the gifts of service, encouragement, mercy, or helping. Currently, the team is looking for new additions to help:

  • Man the welcome desk (once or more each month for about 30 minutes at the front end of each service and 10 minutes at the end of the service).
  • Prepare, Setup, Serve and Clean up refreshments during our fellowship time between services (at least 30 minutes prior to each service, 1-2 times a month).
  • Casually follow up with guests from Sunday services during the week, will work closely with the Pastor of Congregational Care. Ideally - this person is connected to leadership at the church already in some way.
  • Ensure the information on our website is clear, accessible and updated for guests, will work closely with the Communications Team.
  • Make guests feel welcome, through sitting with them during services (if guests desire it), inviting visitors to their home/activities and helping connect them to other people and ministries at Calvary.

Calvary Kids

The Calvary Kids teams provide a safe, fun, and engaging experience where your child can explore a closer relationship with Jesus. Most notably this happens at our second service on Sunday where kids learn about God in age tailored environments. Our programs include experiences for preschoolers ages 2 - 3 and 4 - 5 and elementary kids in grades k - 2, and 3 - 5. Our volunteers have a heart for Jesus that would like to share that love with children, and are the backbone of making it all happen!

Become a Leader

At Calvary our vision is to see a congregation connected and discipled through an expanded ministry of small groups, or connect groups. Each of these meet regularly to pray together, learn from God's Word and encourage each other as we walk through life together. But - these would not be possible without the people who lead them! If you are passionate about discipling others and bringing people together to do life together in Christ, consider becoming a group leader. You can also learn more about groups at our church here.

If interested, you can contact our Associate Pastor Tim Hogan who oversees the discipleship directly at tim@calvarybfc.org, or fill out the form at the bottom of this page!
